Cadle, who was at NAB to meet manufacturers, told Broadcast that "there's a very good chance" that he'll be re-entering the industry once his contractual obligations with VTR plc, of which Blue is part, end in August.

A London-based venture is expected to be funded largely by Cadle with support from other private investors. Cadle said: "The support that I've had from the industry is unbelievable. Financing will not be a problem. I'm not worried about that at all."

Cadle said: "MPC and The Farm seem to be walking away with things at the moment and I want to give them a run for their money." He added that he'd be after "the best people as well as fresh young talent".
