ITV gameshow Catchphrase and Channel 4 property format Selling Houses are set to be remade in France after indie Pernel Media struck two option deals.
The French production company, set up by factual and entertainment producer Samuel Kissous in 2009, is now in negotiations with French broadcasters to commission local versions of the programmes.
Kissous inked the deal for Catchphrase, which returned to ITV in 2013, with distributor DRG and for Reef Television’s Selling Houses, which airs on More 4 and is fronted by Amanda Lamb, with Passion Distribution.
Pernel Media has previously remade British formats including Optomen’s The Great British Menu, Lion TV’s Cash Cab, Hat Trick’s Dinner Date, Objective’s Balls of Steel and Mentorn’s Most Identical in France.
“There is a significant appetite in France for proven formats from Britain,” said Kissous.
“Broadcasters aren’t necessarily concerned that a show was created 15 years ago – they’re looking for shows that feel fresh and exciting to French audiences and we’re confident once again of proving our expertise at adapting great British formats and making them a success in France.”
