Dragonfly and Motion Content Group tie for teen mum eight-parter
E4 programmes boss Karl Warner has ordered his first factual series for the channel, an aspirational teen mum docuseries from Dragonfly and Motion Content Group.
Teen Mum High (w/t) will follow six teen mums as they embark on a life-coaching course led by fellow teen mum and entrepreneur, Jess Lizama.
The show has been inspired by real schools dedicated to teen mums and classes teach confidence-building, relationship-maintenance and a broad range of skills to help with career progression. Lizama said the series tracks the women’s’ shifting goals both professionally and personally.
Warner said the show is indicative of the type of character-driven factual he is looking to establish on E4 and All4.
He has been in post for three years and the move represents his first factual order.
“Becoming a parent and trying to kick start your career are two of life’s big challenges so watching this group of young women do them at the same time will be inspiring and powerful,” he added.
Ros Ponder and Richard Mills are exec producing for Dragonfly, alongside Motion’s Melanie Darlaston.
The series was commissioned by Warner and former C4 factual commissioning editor, Fozia Khan, who has moved to Amazon. Factual commissioning editor Harjeet Chhokar is responsible for delivering the show in 2022.
E4 bore the brunt of C4’s pandemic budget cuts with teen content plummeting by over 80% but has since restored its teen strand and hired its first dedicated E4 commissioner, Mel Bezalel.
