Jack Dee is to star in an ITV film penned by Men Behaving Badlycreator Simon Nye.

ITV controller of comedy Sioned Wiliam has commissioned Thames TV to make the 90-minute film, titled Tunnel of Love.

Set in and around a fairground, Dee stars as carnival handyman Roy, whose life is turned upside-down when he is sued for substantial damages after a series of accidents. In a bid to uncover the truth, Roy becomes an unlikely and inventive detective to save the fairground's future.

It will be produced by Margot Gavan Duffy, who worked on Nye's comedy Hardware, and directed by John Henderson, who was director on The Borrowersmovie.

The commission followed an order made by Wiliam last year for Thames TV to make a one-off comedy from Nye titled Beauty, updating Beauty and the Beast.
