Discovery Networks Europe has restructured the roles of its channel directors to ensure a better fit between the channels they are managing.

The reshuffle sees Eliza Burrows, previously director of Animal Planet International in the UK hand over her responsibility for Discovery Wings and Discovery Kids.

Clare Laycock, Channel Director, Discovery Health, has taken on Discovery Kids and Katy Thorogood, Discovery Channel director, will now oversee factual channel Discovery Wings.

In return for taking on Wings, Thorogood has given up control of Discovery Travel & Adventure, which will now be managed by Discovery Home & Leisure director Paul Welling.

'Kids is a natural fit with health and Wings, as it is a factual channel, is a natural fit with the Discovery Channel. We also think Travel & Adventure fits well with Home & Leisure,' a Discovery spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said that Burrows is now only managing Animal Planet in the UK as this role involves a heavier workload than managing any of the other channels.

Animal Planet, which had a major relaunch last year, is managed by Discovery UK vice-president of content Peter Weil across the globe.
