On-air promotions specialist Bruce Dunlop is to set up a creative services company in his homeland, Australia, writes Barbara Marshall.

Dunlop set up Bruce Dunlop & Associates (BDA) in London in 1999 after seven years as creative director at BSkyB. He now believes the time is right to expand BDA overseas and believes that Australia offers some good opportunities. He said: 'Australia is not the biggest market in the world but it is growing. The thing about TV over there is that the same guys get rotated around the companies. We hope to be a bit of new blood.'

Dunlop has just returned from a recce during which he had meetings with several broadcasters including FoxTel chairman Sam Chisholm, who originally hired Dunlop to work for BSkyB.

Dunlop also believes there are opportunities within south-east Asia and visited Singapore, Hong Kong and Jakarta. 'That whole area is so far behind in TV terms - Jakarta is about seven or eight years behind,' he said.

Dunlop said he planned to have the Sydney-based operation up and running 'by March at the latest'. Creative director Jens Hertzum will head the operation and will be joined by senior creative Peter Booth.
