Channel 4 comedy commissioner Nerys Evans is stepping up to interim head of comedy following the departure of Shane Allen to the BBC.
Evans joined the comedy team in February 2010 from the BBC where she was an in-house producer and worked on Miranda.
Since joining the broadcaster she has ordered Noel Fielding’s Luxury Comedy and The Midnight Beast.
She will work with comedy commissioning editor Fiona McDermott continuing to oversee comedy output on the channel.
Allen, who ordered Black Mirror, Fonejacker and Cardinal Burns, was confirmed as BBC comedy controller earlier this month. He will oversee BBC comedy commissioning across TV, radio and online in the role previously held by Cheryl Taylor.
C4 comedy recently oversaw two weeks of programming celebrating 30 years of comedy on the channel.
The Funny Fortnight was a mix of new and old content. Archive episodes content such as The 11 O Clock Show, Vic Reeves’ Big Night Out and new programmes including I’m Spazticus, several Vic and Bob shows and Comedy Labs were shown across the two weeks.
