EastEnders veteran Wendy Richard is to star alongside new Miss Marple Julia McKenzie in the next film in the franchise for ITV1.
Entitled A Pocket Full of Rye, it will also feature a former Spooks favourite Matthew McFadyen, Cold Feet's Helen Baxendale, Prunella Scales, Lucy Cohu and Ken Cranham.

McKenzie is the seventh actress to take up the Marple mantle on screen, following in the footsteps of Gracie Fields, Margaret Rutherford, Angela Lansbury, Helen Hayes, Joan Hickson and Geraldine McEwan.

The Marple films are a hugely successful franchise for ITV airing on both ITV1 and ITV3. It has previously attracted ratings as high as 10 million on the main channel and the films have been sold to more than 100 territories worldwide.

Agatha Christie's Marple is co-produced by Granada, Agatha Christie Ltd and WGBH Boston. Granada International, who brokered the US co-production deal, holds worldwide distribution rights.
