Firecracker Films has hired A Very British Hotel [pictured] producer Emma Morgan as creative director of factual.

Morgan will spearhead the Tinopolis indie’s development of factual series and formats in the new role.

It is the latest senior executive hire for the indie, which is producing W’s Dr Christian Will See You Now, following the launch of a regional base in Glasgow, led by former IWC head of documentaries Elspeth O’Hare.

Morgan joins Firecracker from Oxford Scientific Films, where she was head of popular factual and produced the 3 x 60-minute Channel 4 series A Very British Hotel, which went the behind-the-scenes at the luxury Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park hotel.

She has also held senior roles at Mentorn and Twofour and is currently deputy chair of the Bafta television committee.

Morgan has previously worked on series including the Educating… franchise and The Fried Chicken Shop for C4, BBC3’s Hotel of Mum and Dad, C5’s The Hotel Fixer and Sky 1’s Gregg’s: More Than Meets the Pie.

Firecracker chief creative officer Jes Wilkins said Morgan was one of the “most talent and innovative creatives in the business”.

“She joins an excellent senior team at an exciting time for Firecracker as we try to build on a strong slate of new and existing series from both our London and Glasgow offices and I can’t wait to see what she will come up with next,” he added.

Morgan added: “Firecracker have a great reputation for producing attention grabbing programmes that people talk about for years.”
