Five is extending its portfolio of AFP cooking shows with a new series backed by Flora and featuring chefs Jean Christophe Novelli and Matt Tebbutt.

Family Food Fight with Flora is produced by Cineflix with Joe Houlihan, Simon Lloyd and Leonie Hutcinson as exec producers and is due to air in May. It was ordered by Donna Taberer, Five’s head of entertainment.

The 6 x 30-minute series sees each chef mentor a family before they compete to see which can make the healthiest, tastiest meal for 40 diners in a London restaurant.

Flora is funding the series, following a deal agreed by media agency Mindshare. Kate Mitchell, Flora’s brand manager said the show was designed to encourage 11m people to take up its health test Heart Age by 2020.

“The chefs will be helping to recreate favourite, family recipes, making simple changes to promote a healthier lifestyle,” said Mitchell.

Joe Houlihan, executive vice president of programming for Cineflix said the content would be distributed across a range of channels.

“The Flora campaign gives our branded entertainment division a fantastic opportunity to create content that works across multiple platforms, with an exciting TV concept at its centre,” he said.

In February Five launched AFP cookery show Chinese Food in Minutes, produced by Blink Films, with funding from Sharwood’s owner Premier Foods.
