MONDAY: The Game Of Thrones juggernaut continued to lurch forward for Sky Atlantic, as the sixth series launched with half a million more viewers than last year’s record debut.

The combined audience for the HBO fantasy epic’s 2am simulcast and 9pm repeat totalled 2.2m viewers, according to Barb figures supplied by overnights.tv.
This was highest ever overnight audience for Sky Atlantic and comfortably beat last series launch of 1.7m (7.1%), when it was aired at 9pm on 13 April without a simulcast. It also topped 2014’s debut of 1.2m viewers.
Series six’s 2am broadcast scored a whopping share of 50.9%, meaning that over half the TV viewing population at the time were watching Game Of Thrones.
The 9pm repeat scored 816,000 (3.7%), which was more viewers than BBC2’s Horizon, which averaged 655,000 (2.9%). It also smashed Sky Atlantic’s 12-month slot average of 224,000 (1.1%).
