In just three years at MultiStory Media, Jack Browne has worked his way up from assistant producer to co-founding the indie’s in-house documentaries unit. From his first credit on ITV documentary Return To Belsen, Browne has been involved with key MultiStory factual commissions such as Martin Lewis Extreme Savers (2021) and How To Catch A Cat Killer (2022) – both for ITV.

He also spearheaded the development of BBC3 doc Dubai Hustle, which required building the access relationship, writing a detailed treatment, recording interviews for the taster, and producing and scripting the tape.

These achievements have all contributed to his current role, where in only two months he has fulfilled his mission of bringing premium storytelling to MultiStory’s docs slate by securing a debut high-end box-set documentary order from forthcoming streamer ITVX. Though yet to be announced, the doc tells the story of a group of mostly black British citizens who get caught up in one of the most catastrophic acts of violence in recent history.

The development process was long and complicated but Browne sealed it with 60-slide multimedia presentation to senior ITV execs.

Browne’s rapid progression can be attributed to the trust he is given to handle complex projects and unearth compelling storytelling.

“It’s increasingly rare to discover someone who is charming, witty, inventive and also serious-minded, but Jack is all those things,” says MultiStory Media chief executive Tim Carter.

“He’s well-informed and very clever, and he also puts in the hard graft, which delivers serious results. Jack’s a born storyteller, and his playfulness in framing character and narrative, his eye for the telling detail or the fresh take, and his sophisticated understanding of tone, are those of a mature screenwriter many years his senior.”
