Rebecca Hathway is the “epitome” of what any great line producer should be, according to Wildstar Films chief operating officer Juli Porter.

With just five years under her belt working as a production manager/line producer in factual and live output, Hathway has established a reputation for “effortlessly” managing multimillion-pound budgets and navigating legal, insurance and financial risks, while also managing crews strewn across the world, filming in high-risk and remote areas.

This experience has led her to work across a wide array of unscripted programming, from factual entertainment shows such as BBC1’s Top Gear and Welcome To Earth with Will Smith for Disney+, to sports programming, including the Winter Paralympics in PyeongChang for Channel 4. Most recently, she looked after live world feed coverage of the Queen’s state funeral for all media channels.

Her relatively quick rise to line producer is the result of her work ethic and determination, ability to understand editorial challenges, complex budgets and schedules, and can-do attitude in the face of adversity.

These traits are instrumental to Hathway’s current project overseeing a landmark natural history series, which involves 2,000 shoot days across 80 countries, and her ability to spin multiple plates at once.

“Rebecca will no doubt keep climbing the production management ranks until she hits the top,” says Porter.
