Inbetweeners star Blake Harrison is to front a new sitcom on Comedy Central - the second original UK series from the MTV-owned channel.

Harrison, who plays Neil in hit E4 comedy The Inbetweeners, will star as a frustrated graduate who ends up living back in his home town in Big Bad World (working title).

The 8 x 30-minute series will be made by Objective Productions and was commissioned further to a pilot episode produced in May.

David Fynn, Rebecca Humphries, Seann Walsh and Caroline Quentin also feature as Harrison turns back to hanging around with his old friends and trying to win back his old girlfriend.

The sitcom, due to air in 2013, will be the channel’s follow-up UK order to Big Talk Productions’ Threesome which was re-commissioned for a second series in February.

The series will be exec produced by Objective’s Andrew Newman and Ben Farrell with Comedy Central’s Simon Lupton. It was ordered by content director Sarah Farrell.

It has been writtenby Joe Tucker, Lloyd Woolf, Rose Heiney, Kevin Cecil, Andy Riley and Jon Purkis.

Comedy Central’s managing director Jill Offman said: “Big Bad World’s exceptional scripts have attracted a fantastic cast who have become a group of funny and real characters that I know our growing audience will love”.

E4 commission

Objective has also secured a second series of hidden camera show Meet The Parents for E4.

The 6 x 60 minute series, fronted by Alex Zane, sees an unsuspecting member of the public pranked as they meet their partner’s family for the first time.

In a tweak from the first series’ format, part of the show will take place in a studio, with the guests invited in to watch their footage in front of an audience.

Meet The Parents was commissioned by outgoing C4 head of comedy Shane Allen with Objective exec producers Newman and Lee Hupfield.
