Distributor secures pipeline of science and history docs from Glasgow indie

TVF International has signed an exclusive first-look deal with Glasgow-based indie Furnace.

The deal will provide the factual distributor with a pipeline of blue-chip science and history documentaries, including recently greenlit BBC4 two-part series You, Me And Eugenics [working title].

Amazing World of Gravity

The Amazing World Of Gravity: Jim Al-Khalili fronted BBC4 doc

The agreement, which will run until 2021, builds on TVF’s existing catalogue of Furnace-produced programming. This includes Jim Al-Khalili docs The Amazing World Of Gravity, Order And Disorder, Everything And Nothing, The Secret Life Of Chaos and The Secrets Of Quantum Physics and Simon Schaffer-fronted Mechanical Monsters And Mechanical Marvels.

All of the series were commissioned by BBC4 and have aired in over 100 territories worldwide to date.

TVF head of acquisitions Will Stapley, who brokered the deal, said Furnace is a leader in creating “high-brow and accessible specialist factual with wide international appeal”.

The deal comes off the back of the distributor signing a first-look deal with Singapore-headquartered media conglomerate Mediacorp for its latest factual productions.
