Bafta award-winning producer Guy Davies has joined ITN Productions (ITNP) in the newly created role of head of documentaries.
Davies will report into Chris Shaw, the editorial director at ITN’s production arm, and is tasked with developing topical factual series for UK and international broadcasters.
The company has lured him out of self-employment, where his most recent credits included executive producing Channel 4’s emergency services series 999: What’s Your Emergency. Davies also produced two episodes of The Tube, BBC2’s hit show about the London Underground.
He was series producer on the Bafta and Grierson-winning documentary The Trust for Channel 4 in 2003, while his feature-length C4 and HBO film The Battle for Marjah picked up three Emmy nominations last year.
Davies has held senior production roles at Wall to Wall, Hart Ryan Productions and Folio Productions, and will now help ITNP build on shows including The Agenda and Mud Men.
ITNP managing director Mark Browning said: “Guy is a fantastic addition to our senior team and will bring further diversity to our output.”
Davies added that it was a “great time” to be joining the company, which has seen its production slate soar from a total of nine hours in 2010 to 179 last year.
