New BBC3 sitcom Bad Education drew nearly a million viewers on its second outing.

The comedy, which stars Jack Whitehall as a hapless history teacher, was more than 150k viewers up on last week’s debut of 830k (4.27%), according to overnight Barb figures supplied by Attentional.
It also tipped over BBC3’s slot average of 850k (4.25%). A repeat at 12.30am drew an additional 397k (9.44%).
BBC3 is heavily repeating Bad Education throughout the week. Adding in eight repeats, the first episode has been seen by 2.97m viewers.

Another school-set sitcom, on Sky Living, saw its audience plummet on last week’s debut.
Gates, which stars Joanna Page and Sue Johnston, kicked off last week with an audience of 234k (1.08%).
The second in a five-part run took a dive and came close to dipping below Sky Living’s slot average of 100k (0.4%).
New reality show Styled to Rock, which has had the backing of singer Rihanna, also struggled.
It was down on last week’s debut of 95k (0.4%) and fell further from Sky Living’s usual audience of 153k (0.6%).
Hell’s Kitchen USA (ITV2) 9pm-10pm
388k (1.7%) / 122k (0.7%) +1
The Gordon Ramsay cookery competition was up on last night’s 369k but still recorded one of the lowest audiences of the current run – below ITV2’s slot average of 420k (1.75%).
New Girl (E4) 9pm-9.30pm

US comedy New Girl continued to perform strongly for E4, after being pulled from Channel 4 mid-series. It easily topped the digital channel’s slot average of 270k (1.1%).
Suburgatory, another US sitcom, also continued to pull a solid audience and outperformed E4’s slot average of 250k (1%).
The Newsroom (Sky Atlantic) 10pm-11.10pm

Aaron Sorkin’s latest drama, now seven episodes into a 10-part run, drew its second lowest audience of the run and was 10k below Sky Atlantic’s usual viewing figures.
Falling Skies (FX) 9pm-10pm
187k (0.8%) / 53k (0.31%) +1
The US alien invasion drama is still pulling more than double FX’s slot average of 90k (0.4%) but remains below the second season debut of 302k on 3 July.
