Disney Channels EMEA general manager Michael Cairns and vice-president, global original programming Steve Aranguren have both left as part of its integration with Jetix Europe.

Aranguren moved to London in 2007 to pioneer programming production outside North America and was the key contact for UK indies. His credits include the updated Famous 5: On the Case co-production with Chorion.

The merged Jetix and Disney production units will be run by Jetix and Disney Channels EMEA senior vice-president of original programming Marc Buhaj, who takes on Aranguren's responsibilities.

A Disney spokeswoman said: “Increasing our investment in locally produced shows remains central to our strategy. Since joining Jetix, [Buhaj] has created a large development and production slate working with industry talent from around the globe. He has built a programming team who are pioneering a range of new animation and production styles.”

Jetix UK and Nordic managing director Boel Ferguson replaces Cairns and has been named manager for both Jetix and Disney Channels in the UK and Ireland.

Disney is in the process of raising its stake in Jetix Europe from 75% to 100% and the spokeswoman said the company was working through the final stages of the integration.
