The Friendsspin-off, starring Matt LeBlanc, could only manage a modest rise in the channel's slot average of 1.7 million (6.7%) over the fourth quarter of 2004. Joeyinitially made a strong start on Five with the first two 30-minute episodes - which were shown back to back in February - averaging 4.1 million (16%). However, by the end of the run it was down to 1.7 million. A spokeswoman for Five said: "The strategy behind the acquisition of Joeywas to introduce comedy to the channel and attract a younger audience. Joey has delivered on both these fronts."
