A connected TV karaoke game is to be the first app in the UK which will allow consumers to pay for content via Paypal.

Connected TV app developer and VoD provider Capablue has developed the Mr Entertainer Karaoke Collection, with karaoke business Digitop, which will initially launch on Samsung TVs and feature an extensive playlist of over 2000 tracks for users to sing-along to.

Capablue has agreed a deal with payments service Paypal to allow consumers to pay to play for a limited time or buy a full download with unlimited access to music. Pricing details are yet to be confirmed.

The TV app will be followed with a supporting mobile app which will allow users to sing into their mobile phones and hear their voce played back via the TV.

Capablue’s managing director Tom Cape said: “Our design and technical teams worked closely with Digitop to create a high-quality, simple-to-use and aesthetically pleasing music app.”

Paypal’s general manager of merchanmt services Cameron McLean added the service had been specifically tailored for connected TVs.

“We’re pleased to help bring innovative services like the Karaoke Station to our customers and to work with Capablue to bring fast, easy and safe payments to this growing market,” he said.
