GMTV host Lorraine Kelly has been lined up to anchor ITV1 daytime's new DNA testing series Secrets Revealed - DNA Stories.

The 10 x 30 minute series from Glasgow-based SMG TV Productions, which also produced The People's Court for ITV1, will use DNA testing to resolve people's dilemmas, airing in the first half of 2006.

It will look at a range of cases where DNA tests can help solve questions relating to their background.

Using documentary filming and dramatic reconstruction, each episode will follow one person's story from the moment the test was requested to the moment when the test results are revealed. A counselling service will be available to support those taking part in the series.

The series, commissioned by ITV editor of daytime Nick Thorogood, is currently in pre-production. It will not be filmed in front of a studio audience.

"DNA testing is a subject that I'm fascinated by and the fact that the results we will discover through the programme are potentially life-changing for those taking part, makes this series something quite special," said Kelly.

The programme will be series produced by J Cameron Miller while Jim Manson and Helen Alexander will executive produce.
