In the UK, Mentorn Media-owned indie Folio has been behind numerous “blue light” series, including Traffic Cops for BBC1 and Night Cops for Sky 1. The new show marks the first time it has made one for a US broadcaster. The 10 x 30-minute Fast and Dangerous for Fox Reality is being executive produced by Folio's Matt Holden.
“We've been talking to American channels for two or three years about doing this,” said David Leach, managing director of Mentorn International and head of Los Angeles-based Mentorn USA. “It's been quite hard to break through because a lot of US producers make this kind of show. It's a real coup.”
Leach will also executive produce the series, which was ordered by Fox Reality Channel president David Lyle. It is due to be delivered in September.
Fast and Dangerous is the third Fox Reality commission for Mentorn USA. The indie previously produced two series of reality competition Paradise Hotel, which featured a group of single men and women competing to see who could stay in a luxury hotel the longest. Other US commissions secured by the indie in recent years include Challenge America for ABC, Chef Academy for Bravo and Forever Eden for Fox.
