The organiser of TV markets Mip-TV and Mipcom is moving the 2003 spring event forward to March, writes Steve Aston.
Reed Midem, which traditionally holds the event in April, has been forced to shift it forward after pressure from participants in America, Asia and Europe. The 2003 event will take place in Cannes from 24 to 28 March. The earlier date is intended to give producers more time to close programme deals before the launch of the summer schedules. It will also allow more time between Mip-TV and other industry events in the summer. The decision reflects a fall in attendance at TV markets in the wake of the ongoing media recession. This year's Mip-TV runs from 15 to 19 April in Cannes after the Mip-doc documentary screenings on 13 and 14 April.
