BBC2’s horticultural series Monty Don blossomed with 1.68m (7%) as long running crime procedural Silent Witness struggled over the finishing line for BBC1.

Monty Don’s French Gardens (BBC2) 9pm – 10pm
1.68m (7.38%)

The three-part horticultural series received a vote of confidence from viewers as the second episode in the series added to its strong start of 1.6m (7%).

The documentary series, which sees Monty travel to famous kitchen gardens across France, also added over 200,000 viewers to BBC2’s 12 month slot average of 1.46m, according to according to Barb data supplied by Attentional.

Silent Witness (BBC1) 9pm – 10pm
4.87m (21.36%)

The final episode in the latest season of the British crime drama, starring Emilia Fox and William Gaminara, recorded its lowest ratings of the run. The procedural dropped 270,000 viewers from Thursday’s opening instalment of the two-part finale and over 580,000 from the same period the previous week.

The 10 part series averaged 5.58m (23.2%).

Great Night Out (ITV) 9pm – 10pm
3.42m (15.02%)

The sitcom starring William Ash, Lee Boardman and Rebekah Staton continued to grow its audience compared to the previous two weeks but remained down on ITV’s 12 month slot average of 4.28m (18.58%).

8 Out of 10 Cats (C4) 9pm-9.30pm
1.59m (6.9%)

The fourth episode of the comedy panel show, hosted by Jimmy Carr, lost over 100,000 viewers from last week, although recorded higher ratings than its second episode.

Meanwhile, the third episode of The Last Leg with Adam Hills lost 169,000 viewers, posting 1.1m (4.9%) despite C4 using the comedy series as its platform to announce it had renewed the rights to the Paralympics.

FILM: Bad Boys II (C5) 9pm – 11:55pm
1.12m (6.38%)

Another repeat of the Will Smith and Martin Lawrence-fronted action comedy drew over 1m viewers, despite the Michael Bay-directed movie coming out over 10 years ago. It surpassed Channel 5’s 12 month slot average of 998,000 (5.55%).
