James Nesbitt is to star in Five Minutes of Heaven, a one-off drama for BBC drama Northern Ireland about the murder of a Catholic teenager in Belfast in 1975.

The fact-based drama looks at events from the point of view of the Ulster Volunteer Forces member responsible for the murder, and the dead teenager's 11-year-old brother.

Omagh writer Guy Hibbert has penned the script for Ruby Films. It will be directed by Downfall director Oliver Hirschbiegel.

Eoin O'Callaghan will produce for Big Fish and Stephen Wright is the BBC producer.

It was commissioned for BBC2 by BBC fiction controller Jane Tranter and BBC2 controller Roly Keating.
