Children's animation channel buys in classics for next year's schedule

BROADCAST EXCLUSIVE - Nickelodeon UK has bought 126 hours of programming for next year, including the UK premiere of new episodes of children's animation Bob the Builder, writes Simon Ellery.

Nickelodeon UK head of acquisitions and co-productions Debbie Macdonald has bought a raft of shows for pre-school channel Nick Jr, including a 26 x 10-minute run of Bob the Builder from Hit Entertainment, a 13 x 30-minute run of Babar from Nelvana Enterprises and 26 x 11-minute series of Cubeez from Entertainment Rights. All are due to be broadcast next year.

Nick Jnr holds all pay-tv rights for Babar, Little Bear, Bob the Builder and Cubeez in the UK.

Nickelodeon UK has bought two 90-minute Sabrina films: Sabrina Goes to Rome and Sabrina Down Under.

The channel has also bought rights to broadcast a 13 x 30-minute series of Miss Mallard Mysteries from Cinar Europe.
