Portrait Artist maintains ABC1 appeal

This week, Sky’s talented daubers painted on in Battersea for a largely upmarket crowd, while men fixing up old cars attracted consistent male audiences for Quest and Yesterday.

On Thursday, the fourth episode of the seventh series of Yesterday’s Bangers And Cash: Restoring Classics, featuring the Peugeot 205 Gti – the original ‘hot hatch’ – achieved 166,000/1.5% at 8pm. It was 80,000 shy of last week’s series best, featuring a Paul Smith Mini (245,000/2.3%). With its two repeats, this week’s episode totalled 298,000, 129,000 behind last week (427,000).

However, this week’s episode totalled 103,000 for ABC1 men, all but par with last week (104,000), with Sunday’s 9pm repeat the best (39,000/0.6%).

The sixth episode of the third series of Quest’s Shed And Buried: Classic Cars achieved 228,000/2% at 9pm on Monday. The episode featuring a Citroen Ami 6 was within a smidge of last week’s episode featuring a Humber Hawk (236,000/2%).

Including its two repeats, this week’s episode totalled 375,000 – 79,000 behind last week’s total (454,000). This week’s episode totalled 89,000 for ABC1 men, smaller than last week (109,000) but par with episode three (88,000), which fixed up a Chrysler Imperial Crown.

The fourth episode of Sky’s Portrait Of The Year 2025 drew 115,000/0.9% at 8pm on Wednesday on Sky Arts. Its simultaneous showing on Sky Mix picked up 46.000/15%, while its Sky Showcase TX gathered 83,000/0.7%.

Adding up all three showings, this week’s Portrait Artist totalled 244,000, the second smallest aggregate of the run, ahead of episode two (231,000). The best remains the 1 October launch (267,000). However, this week’s episode totalled 153,000 for ABC1s, par with last week (153,000).
