High-speed cable modem service also rolled out
NTL has launched a television internet service, hot on the heels of Granada announcing plans to launch its own service.

For a monthly charge of£10 for set-top box rental, subscribers will receive unlimited internet and email access via an ordinary TV set. The company is also rolling out a high-speed internet access through cable modem.

The new scheme follows the launch last week of NTL's existing PC-internet service, ntlworld. NTL chief executive Barclay Knapp said: 'NTL is at the centre of the UK internet revolution. No other company offers the same range of internet access services.'
