The House of the Dragon and Mandalorian VFX veteran joins Outpost as executive creative director as the company establishes its first European base

Outpost

Outpost VFX has launched an office in Germany, and has announced that Emmy and VES award winning VFX supervisor Sven Martin will join in November as executive creative director.

Outpost already has offices in UK, Canada and India, with the Germany expansion broadening the company’s access to creative talent, technical expertise and production opportunities across Europe.

The German operation has been established around a senior team of artists, technologists and production specialists, including many of the key animators and character artists working on House of the Dragon.

Martin said: “Technology moves fast, but great storytelling remains at the heart of everything we do. Outpost is brilliantly set up to navigate the future of visual effects, and I couldn’t be more excited to join the team as we help fellow filmmakers bring their boldest visions to life.”

Chief operating officer, Gez Hixson, adds: “Germany represents an important milestone in Outpost’s continued growth and gives us access to an exceptional pool of creative and technical talent. We’ve been deliberate about finding the right opportunity to expand into Europe, and we’re incredibly excited about the team we’ve assembled.

“Bringing Sven into the business is a major part of that. His creative pedigree, leadership and trusting relationships with a wide network of clients make him an outstanding fit for Outpost as we continue to evolve internationally.”

Martin’s credits include House of the Dragon, 3 Body Problem, Bridge of Spies, The Mandalorian and Shazam! Fury of the Gods. He’s a multiple VES Award winner and also received Primetime Emmy awards in both 2012 and 2013 for his work on Game of Thrones.
