His appointment comes as Premier League Productions begins the process of building facilities to take the production of Premier League matches in-house
Andy Beale has been announced as director of technology at The Premier League.
In a post on LinkedIn this morning, Beale said simply, “I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Director of Technology at The Premier League. Huge thanks to [Managing Director at Premier League Productions] Nick Morgan and the team for the very warm welcome. Looking forward to a very exciting few years ahead.”
The move comes as Premier League Productions begins the process of moving its production operations in-house, after severing its relations with IMG as the production outfit for Premier League Productions.
At the time of announcing it was establishing an in-house media operations business starting with the 2026/27 season, back in November last year, Premier League Productions said IMG and Premier League Productions will continue to deliver the next two Premier League seasons to broadcasters, and then the Premier League will take production in-house.
Premier League Productions currently produces Premier League content for more than 180 countries, with the Premier League and IMG working together on the productions. Premier League Productions produces full coverage of all 380 Premier League matches each season, as well as wide-ranging support programming.
The Premier League said further details regarding the Premier League in-house media operations business will be announced prior to its launch in 2026.
Andy Beale’s appointment as director of technology means he looks set to spearhead this move to in-house operations. He was previously chief engineer and head of innovation at BT Sport, where he oversaw the technology and construction of the landmark BT Sport Production Hub in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
