Electric series will end and be taken over by hydrogen-powered cars

Extreme H World Cup Aurora

Aurora has been named the host broadcaster for the Extreme H World Cup and the final Extreme E race weekend.

The Extreme E Desert X Prix on 4-5 October in Saudi Arabia, signing off the electric car racing series as it is replaced by it hydrogen counterpart. The first Extreme H event will take place from 9–11 October 2025 in Qiddiya City, also Saudi Arabia.

Aurora’s MENA office, which it opened last year, will run the production on the ground, utilising local staff, suppliers and other crew members to make this more regionally dependent, further reducing the carbon footprint of the production.

Aurora’s production will deliver live global broadcasts, highlights programming, digital-first content and behind the scenes coverage across both events.

James Pearce, managing director MENA at Aurora, said: “Aurora has been on this incredible journey with Extreme E from the very start, personally I’ve been privileged to witness the growth of the series at every race. As the Championship writes its next chapter, I’m delighted our Aurora MENA offices have the opportunity to support Ali and his amazing team across this unique content ecosystem.

Matt Beal, director of broadcast at Aurora, said: “Extreme E broke boundaries and reshaped what sustainable motorsport could look like on screen. Extreme H raises the bar again — pairing hydrogen technology with an equal-gender format at a purpose-built venue. Our role is to bring that story to life for fans worldwide, combining premium live production with digital innovation and editorial depth.”

Ali Russell, managing director of Extreme E and Extreme H, said: “Aurora has been with us since day one, and we are proud to continue that partnership as we say farewell to Extreme E and showcase the power of hydrogen and sustainable technology with Extreme H to a global audience. Qiddiya City is the ideal launchpad for the FIA Extreme H World Cup - a visually stunning, technologically ambitious location that sets the tone for a new era of motorsport.”
