The drama will tell the story of the club
Manchester United are working with Lionsgate on a dramatised retelling of the club’s history, according to The Athletic.
The idea for the drama has been influenced by The Crown, although it’s currently in very early stages of development, with the production not yet written and no broadcaster or streaming service currently involved.
The Athletic says Manchester United will receive a “guaranteed sum in the low multi-million pounds in the event the show is produced and sold”, and that future royalties will be shared between the club and Lionsgate.
Writer and director and Manchester United fan Jed Mercurio (Bodyguard, Line of Duty) is reportedly involved in the project.
