The Radio Authority is to launch a wide-ranging consultation into standards of taste and decency following a string of complaints against broadcasters.

The RA will consult the industry and listeners about what they consider acceptable at different times of the day. RA director of programming and advertising Martin Campbell said: 'Broadcasters are taking a lot more risks in terms of topics and language than they used to ... and we want to find out if there is a problem.' The consultation is due to finish by the summer.
