Wife Swapproducer RDF Media is in talks to buy Scotland's biggest independent producer IWC Media for an estimated£20m.

RDF has approached IWC, the company created by the merger of producers Wark Clements and Ideal World last year, in the last few weeks.

RDF already distributes IWC's factual programming and the pair recently set up a joint venture in the US.

RDF declined to comment on a possible buy-out. IWC chairman Alan Clements said only: "In a period of consolidation people are having lots of conversations".

IWC is best known for producing Channel 4's hit property show Location, Location, Location. The indie also holds the£52m contract to televise the Scottish Premier League football matches.

RDF is currently looking to secure fresh capital to fund an acquisitions drive. The London-based indie is now considering whether to float on the Stock exchange or to sign a private equity deal.

Supernannyproducer Ricochet Films is thought to be another potential target on RDF's shopping list though both parties have denied any talks.
