RDF Media is following in the footsteps of Avalon, Princess Productions and Tiger Aspect Productions by launching a talent management arm this week, writes Penny Hughes
RDF Management will identify and nurture non-represented on-screen talent such as Faking It mentor Dominic Littlewood who is now presenting the BBC's Right Car Wrong Car. It aims to forge 'more frequent dialogue' with talent that may involve crafting TV shows around their needs.The new entity will be run out of the indie's London offices alongside its production business. RDF is close to agreeing a deal with an established talent agent to run the outfit.RDF director of programmes Stephen Lambert told Broadcast: 'We are keen to build the entertainment side of our business while remaining strong in factual. Setting up the talent management arm will enable us to do that.'The indie is looking for the right person to head comedy.While RDF announced it was winding down its loss-making Manchester office this month (Broadcast, 10.5.02), the LA office RDF launched in November 2000 is expected to contribute #10m to the group's revenue this year.- Interview, page 17.
