Broadcast shines the spotlight on new US comedy Running Wilde.
Show me the funny
Running Wilde is the new single-camera comedy from Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz, co-executive producer Jim Vallely and star Will Arnett.
What’s it about?
Arnett plays Steve Wilde, a wealthy playboy who has got everything he ever wanted, except the love of his life, Emmy. She is the daughter of a former housekeeper and a bleeding-heart humanitarian. But she returns from a life in the Amazon for her daughter and finds Wilde 20 years after their break-up.
Who else is in it?
Former Arrested co-star David Cross has just signed on. Keri Russell plays Emmy, Stefania Owen (The Lovely Bones) plays the daughter and British comedian Peter Serafinowicz also stars.
Where’s it airing?
US network Fox will roll out the series in a 9.30pm Tuesday night slot in its autumn schedule, up against the results show for ABC’s Dancing With The Stars and NBC reality series The Biggest Loser.
“We had high hopes for this because of the casting and writing pedigree, but we didn’t laugh much. Based on who is involved with it, we’ll give it another look. But we’re not excited.”
