Shine Group has hired its first senior vice president of sales and distribution in Asia Pacific, market further expansion in the region.
Matthew Ashcroft joins from MTV Networks, where he was director of programme sales for Asia Pacific, based in Singapore.
In the new role, based in Sydney, Ashcroft is charged with exploiting the IP of both finished programmes and formats for all platforms throughout the territory.
He will work closely with director of international distribution Cyrus Farrokh and will report to the head of Shine International, a position currently being recruited having been recently vacated by Chris Grant.
The appointment follows Shine International’s relocation to London from LA. The business also recently announced a dedicated acquisitions team headed by former ITV Studios global entertainment executive Noel Hedges.
Shine Group president Alex Mahon said: “Matt has built an outstanding reputation built on some exceptional work across all territories within Asia Pacific over the last 15 years. We are delighted to be establishing this new posting for Shine International in this key region and welcome him to the team.”
Ashcroft added: “The Shine Group companies represent some of the industry’s most talented and innovative producers, making up a remarkable catalogue. I look forward to working with the team and representing these high end original programmes and proven hit franchises in the New Year.”
Prior to his time at MTV, where he spent four years, Ashcroft worked at Entertainment Rights as senior territory manager for the region, Fireworks International and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation where he began his career in 1996.
