Shine Group has hinted at the scale of its international ambitions with the creation of Shine Australia on the heels of Shine Germany.

It has hired Fremantle Media Australia chiefs Mark and Carl Fennessy to head up the division.

The brothers, who worked with Shine on the The Biggest Loser and the new Australian version of MasterChef, will be joint chief executives for the new arm. It will operate in Australia and New Zealand.

Shine last month revealed it would launch in Germany in July. It will have offices in Munich and Cologne run by former RTL 2 senior vice president, programming Axel Kuehn as its chief executive.

Shine Group chief executive and chairman Elisabeth Murdoch said: “Our intention is to look for similar people who match our beliefs and culture to form new bases for the Shine Group internationally.

“We will do this via start-up or through acquisition, in territories we've outlined as key to the next phase in our development,” added Murdoch.
