Sky News has poached Granada factual executive Gideon Joseph to help with the launch of its new studios and evening schedule later this year.

The BroadcastHot Shot 2004 is a former producer on BBC Newsnightand Tonight with Trevor McDonaldand for the last 18 months has been on a fast-track management scheme at Granada, focusing on the commercial side of the TV business.

At ITV's TonightJoseph helped secure exclusive interviews with Michael J Fox, Tony Blair, The Williams sisters and Condoleezza Rice.

He will begin as executive producer, Sky News in June.

Nick Pollard, head of Sky News said that it was Joseph's track record in news and current affairs programming that secured him the job.

"The flair he has shown for securing big interviews and exclusive features will be put to good use at Sky News," he added.
