Sky is continuing its push into virtual reality programming with a behind-the-scenes special following the Team Sky cyclists.
The pay-TV broadcaster’s in-house VR team will produce the special after being given access to the team ahead of the Tour De France in July.
The content will focus on a training day in Monaco and the Tour of Romandie in Switzerland, one of team leader Chris Froome’s main preparation races for this year’s Tour.
It will air on Sky’s range of Facebook pages.
This is the first time that Sky has produced VR content around cycling, following Formula 1, Premier League football, heavyweight boxing as well as news coverage.
This follows the launch of Sky VR Studios, headed by executive producer Neil Graham, earlier this year. It is expected to produce more than 20 individual films over the year.
Graham said: “Team Sky are always at the forefront of the latest technology to push their performance further, and by inviting our VR cameras they are bringing fans even closer to their preparation. It’s an amazing insight to one of the most successful teams in sport.”
