Emap Performance has extended the reach of its new Smash Hits Chart show by signing syndication deals with three independent radio groups, writes Leigh Holmwood.
Four stations in the Forever Broadcasting group and two from Tindle Radio have signed up to take the new Sunday chart, which launched this week and is presented by former BBC Radio 1 DJ Mark Goodier, after deciding to drop the Network Chart, now called Hit 40 UK.Real Radio, which owns three regional stations in Scotland, Wales and Yorkshire, has also been signed up. The extra stations, together with the nine Emap stations, take the chart's potential analogue audience to 6 million listeners. Emap Performance is part of the company that publishes Broadcast.Hit 40 UK, owned by the Capital Radio Group, GWR, Chrysalis Radio and Scottish Radio Holdings, launched on Sunday (5 January) and airs on 87 commercial stations across the country. Formerly known as the Pepsi Chart, it is due to announce a major new sponsor imminently.
