Under the terms of the deal, Spun Gold will produce 140 x 60-minute episodes of the show, starting in 2008. ITV1 has optioned a further 60 episodes.
The new order is scheduled to go out in three instalments. The first run will air from January to March 2008, the second from September to November that year and the third in early 2009. The show will be stripped from Monday to Friday and is likely to return to its previous 3pm slot.
If the extra 60 episodes are ordered they will air between September and November 2009.
The new episodes will continue to celebrate the “Best of British”, with various famous guests, lifestyle features and regular tips on cooking, gardening and food and drink.
ITV1 has also ordered a special 5 x 60-minutes Christmas run of the talk show. Stripped across a week in late December, the Christmas series will feature guests such as Liza Minnelli and Sir Cliff Richard. It will also feature regular contributors such as Gloria Hunniford, Rosemary Shrager, Ann Widdecombe, Kelvin MacKenzie, Ulrika Jonsson and Carol Thatcher.
The Alan Titchmarsh Show was re-commissioned by ITV1 controller of daytime Adam MacDonald. The programme is series edited by David Hall and executive produced by Nick Bullen for Spun Gold and Annie Sweetbaum for Arlington Enterprises.
The first series of The Alan Titchmarsh Show pulled in an average of 939,000 (15.1%) when it aired between September and October this year.
