Steve Carsey is creative director, entertainment at DCD media-owned September Films

Inspired by Alan Ayckbourn and Scarborough’s arcades, I started my career on Channel 4’s GamesMaster as a naïve 20-year-old.

I retired my Golden Joystick a few years later to play with something a bit more real. At Mentorn, I developed and produced global hit Robot Wars.

Promoted to Mentorn head of entertainment, I exec’d Britain’s Worst Driver (Five) and oversaw the development of Paradise Hotel (Fox). I subsequently joined Endemol as Initial’s director of programmes, devising The Match (Sky 1) and advising Camelot on its National Lottery draws.

Recently, I helped establish Steadfast as one of the UK’s fastest-growing factual indies, returning to my first love of entertainment as a creative director for DCD Media-owned September Films in April.
