‘Movement Intelligence’ specialist Rezzil has raised US$10 million in a strategic growth funding round to accelerate its global expansion. The round brings together new strategic investors alongside continued backing from existing partners, the Premier League and Simba Investments.

New strategic investors include Jobe Bellingham and putting coach Phil Kenyon. Bellingham’s investment forms part of a broader strategic partnership with the Bellingham family, under which Rezzil will deliver technology supporting future digital initiatives.

They join an existing investor group that includes Thierry Henry, Cesc Fàbregas, Vincent Kompany (through Plankton and Smallfish Ltd), Tyrone Mings, Michail Antonio, Anthony Watson and Marcus Smith, creating a mix of corporate and strategic investors backing Rezzil’s global ambitions.

Rezzil was founded in Manchester a decade ago by Adam Dickinson, Andy Etches and Gareth Thatcher. It now regularly powers analysis and storytelling on programmes including Match of the Day.

Rezzil’s next phase of growth is being led by a strengthened senior leadership team, including Sion Colley as chief executive officer and Paul Mann as chief financial officer.

Colley and Mann previously led Angstrom Sports before its acquisition by Entain in 2023 and have invested in Rezzil as part of a strategic consortium.

Jake Loos, former Hawk-Eye and NBA executive, has been appointed to lead Rezzil’s North American expansion.

Rezzil has also opened new offices in London and Chicago and expects to double its global headcount to around 100 people over the next 12 months.

While Rezzil first became known for pioneering virtual reality training in professional football, it is now focused on Movement Intelligence.

Movement Intelligence is the ability to transform movement into actionable insights and immersive experiences. Rezzil’s innovation is giving broadcasters new ways to analyse, explain and enhance live sport.

Consumer gaming is also central to Rezzil’s next phase of growth. The company is investing heavily in a new generation of mobile experiences built on its Movement Intelligence, with multiple strategic partnerships currently in incubation. Rezzil expects to significantly expand its consumer team over the coming months ahead of a series of major product launches.

Sion Colley, chief executive officer, Rezzil, said: “For more than a decade, Rezzil has been helping shape the future of sport through technology. Today, we’re taking the next step by establishing Movement Intelligence as a category in its own right.

“Sport has always understood the value of insights in movement. Our ambition is to help the industry understand it in entirely new ways, creating technologies, products and experiences that weren’t previously possible.

“This investment gives us the opportunity to scale that vision globally, working with the world’s leading teams, broadcasters, athletes and rights holders to unlock the next generation of sport.”
