David Elliott Mars Volume Bild Studios

Bild Studios has appointed David Elliot as a senior producer, taksed with expanding its west London virtual production facility, Mars Volume.

Elliott will aim to grow Mars’ on-set capabilities, offering pop-up volumes and rapidly-deployed LED stage solutions to expand beyond its Ruislip facility. He will also work with parent company Bild Studios on immersive installations, live experiences and creative technology projects.

Elliott has previously worked across film, high-end television (HETV), commercials, esports and immersive projects during over a decade in the industry, including projects such as Sentimental Value, House of the Dragon, Masters of the Air, Barbie, Silo, Death by Lightning and The Thomas Crown Affair.

Elliott said: “I’m excited to be joining Mars Volume and Bild Studios, a team I’ve worked alongside for many years, always admired, and now have the opportunity to become part of.

“We’re at a really interesting point for virtual production, with a great opportunity to build stronger partnerships with studios, production companies and VFX vendors. Virtual production has gone through its Dunning-Kruger spike. Productions are much wiser now about where the technology genuinely adds value, and it’s increasingly being used to overcome creative challenges rather than being mis-sold as a fix-all solution.

“That makes working with a team with the expertise and experience of Mars Volume and Bild Studios increasingly important. It’s a team with a wealth of experience across production, education and constant innovation.”

Joanna Alpe, chief commercial officer at Mars Volume & Bild Studios, comments: “David is a fantastic addition to the Mars Volume and Bild Studios team. His experience across virtual production, production management and client relationships gives him a strong understanding of what productions need, both creatively and practically.

“As we continue to develop our key partnerships, David’s appointment reinforces the commitment to supporting productions with the right virtual production approach, from Mars’ permanent LED volume to flexible, project-specific pop-up stage solutions. Connecting productions with the right technology, expertise and solutions.”
