The move accelerates the industry’s shift to cloud-based production, says CREE8
CREE8 has acquired Edit Cloud. CREE8 says the move strengthens its global capabilities and “addresses an urgent industry need – to move to the cloud or risk falling behind”.
CREE8 is a cloud production studio platform enabling creative teams to collaborate. Its customers include NHRA, CNN, Intuit, Wayfair, Hallmark and British Airways.
Edit Cloud provides a platform to enable cloud editing and works with clients to advise and support them in their transition to cloud-based working. Its clients include ITV Studios, Adobe, and Publicis.
CREE8 says Edit Cloud’s “proven approach to workflow design, onboarding, and enablement complements the CREE8 platform, helping customers realise ROI from cloud production faster and with greater impact.”
Prior to the acquisition, the two companies have already been working closely together on different broadcast, live events, and advertising projects.
Exclusive: Broadcast Tech spoke to Edit Cloud’s Simon Green about the acquisition. He told us: “CREE8 are very well backed and are scaling rapidly – they have the tech already, while we are bringing our expertise in production workflows, training and transformation.
“CREE8 provides the tech service and we work with clients who want to move to the cloud and embrace AI to enable that transition. I will lead the growth and marketing functions of CREE8 in the UK and help show clients how they can be efficient and save money deploying workflows in the cloud, embracing AI and managing their assets in the cloud.
“We have a great track record of creative expertise in production and post-production and understand first-hand the issues clients are facing so we are very well placed to help them get the most out of everything the cloud offers.”
Lisa Watts, CEO of CREE8, said: “This acquisition is about accelerating customer success. Media and production teams face rising costs, shrinking budgets, and pressure to deliver more, faster. By combining CREE8’s technology with Edit Cloud’s expertise, we ensure our customers get maximum impact from their investment in cloud production.”
Simon Green, CEO of Edit Cloud, added: “Edit Cloud was built to help creative organisations adapt to new ways of working shaped by AI and collaborative creativity. Joining CREE8 means we can take that mission further, faster. For customers, it is a reassurance story. They continue to work with the same people and expertise they know, now supported by the scale and innovation of a global platform.”
Ashley Hall, chief production officer of Edit Cloud, said: “Technology is only half the story. Teams need confidence, training, and support to embrace new workflows. With CREE8, we can embed that guidance directly into the enterprise experience, ensuring customers do not just adopt the cloud but thrive in it.”
Following its acquisition by CREE8, the Edit Cloud tech and platform will be folded into CREE8, enabling Edit Cloud to solely focus on working with clients on the smooth-running of their transition to cloud working.
The Edit Cloud branding will be phased out over time as the company fully integrates into CREE8.
