The facility now supports 44 channels of the product for ingest and playout

MediaCity Studios has expanded its ingest and playout capabilities with Avid Stream IO.
The facility now supports 44 channels of the product for ingest and playout, supporting AVC, XAVC, 1080p and UHD workflows. This aims to support manage large-scale, multi-camera productions, support remote recording and editing, and enable clients to ingest content across a range of platforms and formats.
MediaCity Studios already used MediaCentral for media asset management with Avid Nexis shared storage, MediaCentral | Cloud UX for video review, logging and editing, and Media Composer as its nonlinear editing platform.
Jon Hatto, head of production technology at MediaCity Studios, said: “We needed a flexible solution that could support any of our customer needs while integrating easily into the workflows we use every day. Avid gave us a solution that worked out of the box and didn’t require heavy customization or development work. What really gave us confidence was working closely with Avid’s product and solution teams and having visibility into the roadmap, so we knew it would continue to meet our requirements.”
Martin Appleton, senior product manager at Avid, said: “MediaCity Studios demonstrates how leading broadcasters and post production facilities are using Avid’s integrated platform to simplify complex productions and support faster delivery. Avid | Stream IO drops into the existing Avid ecosystem, providing MediaCity Studios with an end-to-end, future-ready production environment that enables its teams to create and deliver outstanding content more efficiently.”
