Thai state broadcaster MCOT is hunting for ‘edutainment’ content from British producers for a fledgling children’s channel.

The public broadcaster, which has a portfolio of seven national channels, is seeking programming for its newly-launched MCOT Family.

MCOT Family is keen to beef up its schedule, which includes cartoon strand Flash Dash, drama series Vampire Idol and The Elephant Princess. Almost 75% of the programming on the channel comprises original commissions.

MCOT has been operating in an increasingly competitive marketplace since 24 commercial digital TV licences were granted in 2014/

As a result, MCOT has allocated a total budget of around £64m for investment in programming and related digital content in 2015.
