Jackie Heffer, who as editor of ITV 1's Trisha has seen the Granada-produced daytime show become the highest performing chatshow on TV, has been promoted to executive producer, writes Steve Aston
She takes up the newly created role in the summer in time to prepare for the fifth series, which begins in September. Reporting to Granada controller of daytime James Hunt, she will be responsible for further revamping the show with tweaks to its content and also the introduction of a new set.Heffer's promotion, which comes less than six months after she was bumped up from acting editor to editor in February, is in recognition of the show's average share of 32 per cent for the year so far. The programme now rates 14 percentage points higher than ITV 1's overall daytime average, outperforming key shows such as This Morning.Heffer has worked her way up the ranks of the programme since joining as a researcher in 1998. Before that she worked on Trisha forerunner The Time The Place as well as Jerry Springer UK.
