“This is really only interested in its confected, family-friendly dramas”

Prehistoric Planet: Ice Age, Apple TV
“This is full of anthropomorphising — mums, dads and even one ‘grandma’, all looking on with concern at their various young with fantastically lifelike eyes. It was fascinating to hear that there were probably eight ice ages and to learn how tiny bubbles trapped in permafrost allow us to sample air from millions of years ago. But it’s an approach that shows how this is really only interested in its confected, family-friendly dramas, where most of the better-looking animals make it and when they don’t , it is very restrained on the gore.”

The Man In The Mask: An Orkney Murder, BBC2
“‘It’s a story full of twists and turns,’ said journalist Hazel Martin, presenting this very thorough three-part investigation. ‘Newsroom colleagues would talk about it as one of the strangest cases they’d ever reported on.’ She has been given access to witness statements and interviews with Michael Ross. She has spoken with his parents, and some of the officers involved. And the truth is, the case is still as baffling as ever.”
